Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Fairfield County
The alert is in effect through 6:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County, in effect through 6:30 pm.
"At 5:35 p.m. EDT, the National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph," the alert reads.
The warning specifically mentions Georgetown, New Canaan, Wilton, Westport, Trumbull, Fairfield, Bridgeport, and Stratford, but the storm is not necessarily limited to those areas, the service said.
