If you know of one happening nearby, please share details in the attached comments section.

In light of the heartbreaking tragedy unfolding at Sandy Hook Elementary School, several local religious organizations plan to host services Friday night (Dec. 14).

Details are as follows:

  • Newtown Congregational Church will hold a prayer service at 7 p.m. Officials there said an interfaith gathering is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 16) at Newtown High School.
  • Newtown United Methodist Church will hold a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 14). All are welcome to attend. Rev. Sue Klein said she and other parish leaders "automatically planned" the gathering after hearing the news. Many of the church's members have students who attend the school.
  • St. Rose of Lima will host a Catholic Mass at 7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 14). All are welcome to attend.

Is anything happening in Fairfield for the victims?

In Norwalk, local officials have invited the community to gather at Norwalk City Hall's Community Room on Sunday at 3 p.m. to mourn together. Questions should be directed to Adam D. Bovilsky, Director of the Human Relations and Fair Rent Department at 617-335-6608.
