Twister Watch Issued by National Weather Service

Showers, Thunderstorms, Possibly Severe and With Damaging Winds, Forecast From 3 to 5 P.M. in Fairfield

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Fairfield County until 8 p.m. Wednesday and is predicting showers and thunderstorms between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Some storms could be severe and be accompanied by damaging winds, according to the NWS forecast.

Wednesday night's forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 7 p.m., followed by gradual clearing, a low around 60 degrees and winds between 5 mph and 11 mph.

The good news is Thursday's forecast from the NWS calls for sunny skies and a high near 72, with winds between 13 mph and 22 mph. Thursday night should be clear, with a low around 52 degrees and winds between 5 mph and 15 mph, according to the NWS.

The good weather continues Friday, when NWS predicts sunny skies, a high near 76 degrees and winds between 10 mph and 17 mph. Friday night's forecast from the NWS is mostly clear, with a low around 52 degrees.

Beachgoers will enjoy NWS' weekend forecast as well, which calls for sunny skies and a high near 74 degrees during the day on Saturday, followed by mostly cloudy skies and a low around around 60 degrees Saturday night. The sun returns Sunday, with partly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees, followed Sunday night by partly cloudy skies and a low around 60 degrees, according to the NWS forecast.

Monday's forecast is mostly sunny, with a high near 74 degrees, according to the NWS.
