Fairfield: Sticks for Soldiers Charity Lacrosse Tournament

Where: Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road, Fairfield

When: Saturday, Nov. 24, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: "The Fairfield Ludlowe High School Lacrosse team and the local lacrosse community will host the 7th annual Sticks for Soldiers Thanksgiving Charity Lacrosse Tournament   to raise money for severely wounded soldiers on Saturday Nov. 24 at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Over 700 high school athletes -- both boys and girls teams -- in varsity and JV divisions are expected to participate, representing more than 45 teams and playing over 90 games during the day in nearby venues. Team entry fees and other fund-raising activities contribute towards the charity goal. The officials – referees and umpires of both boys and girls field lacrosse, also donate their time towards this worthy cause."

 

THS Concert Choir to Perform Handel in NYC

Where: New York City

When: Nov. 25, 2 p.m.

Description: The Trumbull High School Concert Choir will perform Handel’s Messiah at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, New York City on Sunday, November 25 at 2 pm as part of a Distinguished Concerts International event.

The Concert Choir will join with other choirs from around the nation, an orchestra and professional soloists for the performance.  For tickets and more information go to DCINY.com.

 

Boy Scouts Wreath Sale Fundraiser

Where: Fireman's Field, Monroe, corner of Moose Hill and Shelton roads.

When: Nov. 24, 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Description: Boy Scout Troop 163 will be holding its Annual Wreath Sale Fundraising Event on the two weekends following Thanksgiving. Wreaths cost $11 without a bow and $14 with a bow. Funds are used to offset trip costs where the scouts learn and practice leadership skills.

 

Visions of Gingerbread IV

Where: Stamford Museum & Nature Center

When: Now through January 27

Price: Free with gate admission

Description: A sweet holiday tradition has taken root at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center with the 4th annual Visions of Gingerbread. See some creative confections, completely consisting of edible materials, from the area’s finest chefs and caterers. Returning favorites, along with new competitors, will show off their gingerbread skills.

 

"Physiology of Inspiration" Exhibit at Maritime Garage Gallery

Where: Maritime Garage Art Gallery

When: Show ends November 30th.

Description: The Norwalk Parking Authority’s Art in Parking Places presents Physiology of Inspiration, the second in the Senses of SoNo series of exhibits at the Maritime Garage Gallery. Physiology of Inspiration exhibit features works in all mediums by artists Barbara Campbell, Ken Delmar, Ralph DiMarco, Paul Hitchen, Fran Meehan, Loren DePalma, Jim Inzero, Joan Melnick, Debra Schaffer,  Alissa Siegal, as well as Irina Simenova from the SoNo School of Fashion.

 

Darien High School Boys Alumni Hockey Game

Description: The "Alumni Turkey Classic".

 

New Canaan: smallWORK

Where: Carriage Barn Arts Center at Waveny Park

Description: The Carriage Barn Arts Center in Waveny Park presents the art exhibition “smallWORK” from Nov. 21– Dec. 23, 2012.  The exhibition showcases small artwork for sale at affordable prices in all media not larger than 14” including the frame or sculpture base.

 

Norwalk: Kitty Adoption Day

Redding: Gingerbread Workshop

Wilton: Shop Wilton Day!

Where: Wilton Chamber of Commerce

When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24

Description: The Wilton Chamber of Commerce teamed up with local businesses, retailers, and merchants of our community to present “Shop Wilton Day”. Our local merchants will be running special sales, discounts, promotions, and events throughout the day. Une Minette, Vintage Fine Wines, Sweet Pierre’s, Open House Gifts, Krik It, Signature Style, Campus Jewelers, Bella & Co., Renaissance Beauty, B Chic, and Snappy Gator are just a few of the many merchants that will be participating in this unique day of shopping local.

 

At the Theater: Italian American Reconciliation

Where: The Ridgefield Theater Barn

When: Nov. 25, 2 p.m.

Description: The Ridgefield Theater Barn is thrilled to present Italian American Reconciliation by John Patrick Shanley. The production, directed by Sherry Asch and produced by Cheryl Boyd, will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Nov. 16 through Dec. 8, with Sunday matinees Nov. 25 and Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
