Energize Connecticut Brightens 'Fantasy of Lights' with Efficiency

Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and UI unveil newly-designed Energy Star LED display at 2012 Fantasy of Lights.

The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, in partnership with The United Illuminating Company, has unveiled its newly-designed ENERGY STAR® LED display at the 2012 Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Park in New Haven, as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative. This energy-efficient display of lights will be showcased for visitors from November 16, 2012 through January 6, 2013, from 5 to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and 5 to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The ENERGY STAR display is one of 21 of the displays that have gone green with LED light bulbs. These durable bulbs not only save energy, money and last long but also allow the Fantasy of Lights to be brighter and more colorful.

“We encourage Connecticut residents to switch to LED lighting alternatives for their home lighting displays during the upcoming holiday season,” said Chris Ehlert, Manager, Residential Conservation Programs, UI.  “The benefit is that LEDs use 75 percent less energy as compared to traditional light bulbs, and ENERGY STAR-certified LED holiday lights are available at most lighting retailors so they’re easy to find.”
