Dean King Featured at First Skype-an-Author Event at the Fairfield Public Library

Author Dean King will talk about his latest book, The Feud, the true story of  the Hatfields and McCoys, when he joins us for our first ever Skype-an-Author talk on Wednesday, March 19.  We’ve all heard about the Hatfields and the McCoys, yet almost no one knows the real story behind the legend. Contrary to popular belief, this wasn’t just hillbilly families taking potshots at each other: the Hatfields and McCoys were well-established landowners who had intermarried and interacted for decades. But after the Civil War, things turned bloody.  Filled with brutal murders, clannish loyalty, reckless affairs and gun-slinging lawmen, The Feud is the riveting story of two frontier families struggling for survival in the isolated Appalachian heartland.  King will “visit” us via Skype on the Library’s large screen and the audience will be able to ask him questions just as if he were here.  We will meet at 7:00 pm in the Rotary Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.  Books will be available for purchase. Registration is requested.

Dean King is an award-winning author of nine non-fiction books including the best-selling Skeletons on the Zahara, Unbound: A True Story of War, Love and Survival and the biography, Patrick O’Brien: A Life Revealed.  King’s research for his stories includes in-depth visits to the places where they originated – the Western Sahara, the mountains of China and now the heart of Appalachia.  He brings back fascinating observations that inform his books and enliven his author presentations.  You won’t want to miss his visit.
