An Un-Holiday Musical: "Striking 12"

The Bijou Theatre in association with Eli Newsom is proud to present a one-night-only performance of the critically acclaimed “un-holiday pop/rock musical” Striking 12.  Striking 12 is a funked-up, rewired version of “The Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Anderson that tells the story of a grumpy, overworked New Yorker who resolves to spend New Year’s Eve alone in his apartment when an unexpected visitor brings some much-needed cheer.

The eclectic score combines rock, blues, musical comedy, and old-fashioned melodies with a healthy dose of 21st-century quirky skepticism to create a unique hybrid of musical theatre and rock concert. Striking 12 was created by the piano/violin/drum theatrical power trio GrooveLily and Tony Award-winning writer Rachel Sheinkin (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).

The all-local cast features Charles Casimiro (Bass), Dwayne Condon (Keyboard/Vocals), Tahlia Cott (Violin), Jenifer Menedis (Vocals), Gabriel Nappi (Drums), Jim Nassef (Vocals), Christy Newsom (Vocals), Eli Newsom (Keyboard/Vocals), Maggie Pangrazio (Vocals), Brian Michael Riley (Narrator/Disgruntled Foley Artist).
