In 1831, a 21-year-old P.T. Barnum started his own newspaper, The Herald of Freedom, but soon found himself jailed for libel. In typical Barnum style, his release was marked with a grand parade. Rare examples of The Herald of Freedom will be displayed along with other documents and objects relating to Barnum's lesser-known careers. Visit www.barnummuseumexhibitions.org to view the virtual exhibition. This event is part of The Big Read, presented by the University of Bridgeport. FREE.
