Mikaela Davis

One of the most unique artists touring today, Mikaela Davis takes an indie approach to the harp. Her compositions are dense, but never sprawling - fugal in the vein of Philip Glass, and transitional like Sufjan Stevens. Mikaela commands a chamber pop pallet and wields it well. Her Harp brings a unexpected voice to a genre dominated by the guitar. Mikaela Davis stretches the sonic border pretty far, plucking a symphony of sounds out of her instrument.

Mikaela, a harpist since age eight, began by studying with Grace Wong; principle harpist in the Rochester Philharmonic. She has continued her studies with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and at SUNY Potsdam. She has won praise for both her songwriting and her classical technique. No easy feat, but one that comes as no surprise with such high caliber performance.
