TOMLINSON MIDDLE SCHOOL WALKATHON

TO SUPPORT 2013-14 PTA SPONSORED PROGRAMS
More than 800 students and staff of Tomlinson Middle School will hold the third annual PTA Walkathon on Friday, October 4 at the school. The students and staff will walk two and a half miles around the school’s campus from 1 to 2:30 p.m., wearing t-shirts designed by school art teacher David Ward. Music to motivate the walkers will be provided by Tomlinson parent DJ Marvin.
According to Ai Nguyen, Tomlinson PTA President, Friday’s event will generate funding for many exciting programs. “The Walkathon is the one event at Tomlinson where parents, teachers and students come together as one to promote community spirit and raise money for the school, while having some fun in the process.” The Walkathon provides funding for events, including arts experiences, author visits, teacher grants,
books and more. Says co-chair Carol Barrios, “The Tomlinson Walkathon is a great way to generate school spirit and a sense of community for our school. The kids have a blast being outside and taking an active role in raising money for their own school. For the third year in a row, everyone is looking forward to a great event.”
