The 2nd Annual Fairfield County Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk to Benefit The Lustgarten Foundation

Held in Bethel, CT, Event to Raise Urgently Needed Dollars for Pancreatic Cancer Research

The 2nd Annual Fairfield County Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk is an event for the whole family and will prove an enjoyable way to heighten awareness of this disease while raising critically needed funds for research.   The 2.5 mile walk is expected to attract 400 participants and raise $75,000 where all net proceeds will benefit The Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest private foundation dedicated solely to funding pancreatic cancer research. Held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Bethel, CT, the 2nd Annual Fairfield County Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk aims to raise money and awareness for much-needed research for pancreatic cancer, America’s fourth-leading cause of cancer deaths.

Karen Rowe, Ellen Klaus and Julie Dunn were inspired to join the fight against pancreatic cancer because they each were personally affected by the loss of someone very close to them, to this disease. They want to continue the fight in the name and memory of their loved one, as well as, for pancreatic cancer patients currently fighting.  That’s why they are joining together with The Lustgarten Foundation to fight this deadly disease.

With an overall survival rate of just six percent, pancreatic cancer is a disease with no prevention, no early tests and, unless detected in its early stages, no cure. The Lustgarten Foundation works to advance scientific and clinical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of pancreatic cancer. One hundred percent of all donations to the Foundation will go directly to pancreatic cancer research.
