Colony Grill And Fairfield Relay For Life Team To Serve Up Big Support For The American Cancer Society

On Tuesday, March 22, from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Fairfield’s “Moms Making a Difference” Relay For Life Team will take over waitressing duties at the Colony Grill (1520 Post Road, Fairfield, CT), and the Colony Grill will donate all tips received and make an honorarium to the American Cancer Society.  To generate additional excitement for the evening, the Colony Grill also will raffle off a pair of tickets to an upcoming New York Rangers home game.

The Moms Making A Difference team is comprised of 20 Fairfield women who choose to do what they can to make a difference, one mom at a time.  The “Moms” is one of many teams participating in the Relay For Life on June 4, 2011, in Fairfield.  More than 30 teams participated in last year’s Relay and raised more than $340,000 for cancer research.

“This is a perfect opportunity for Colony Grill to reinforce our dedication to our community and contribute to a great cause,” said Ken Martin, co-owner of the Colony Grill.  “We’re extremely proud of these women who are backing up their commitment with action.  It’s an inspiring story from an inspiring group and we can’t wait for the big night!,” said Martin.

“This circle of Moms all have been touched in some way by cancer and we are humbled by the disease. Relay motivates us to do what we can to help find a cure,” said Amy Crawford, Moms Making a Difference team captain.  “We are always looking for great ways to raise money for Relay, involve others and have a little fun while we’re at it, and we love the fact that the Colony Grill feels the same way,” continued Crawford.

About Relay For Life (www.relayforlife.org)

Cancer continues to be the public's No. 1 health concern. Each year, more than 1.4 million people in the United States find out that they have cancer, and more than half a million will die of the disease.  Roughly one-in-two men and one-in-three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes.  Relay for Life began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, ran and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then, Relay has grown from a single man’s passion to fight cancer into the world’s largest movement to end the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with additional communities in 19 other countries, gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. The Relay For Life in Fairfield will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.
