State Rep. Kim Fawcett Announces 2012 Re-Election Campaign

Fawcett to run For Fairfield's 133rd congressional district.

[Editor's Note: The following is a press release.]

State Rep. Kim Fawcett has made it official: she will seek a fourth term serving Fairfield’s newly configured 133rd District in the Connecticut General Assembly.

Fawcett has filed paperwork to open a new campaign committee, “Fawcett 2012.” She recently announced her intention to local Democrats, emphasizing that she is eager and excited to begin connecting with voters in the new parts of her district, which was redrawn in a statewide redistricting plan. Beginning in 2013, the 133rd District will encompass only Fairfield neighborhoods. The Greens Farms area in Westport and Fairfield’s Greenfield Hill neighborhoods will no longer be part of the 133rd District.

The newly drawn 133rd District will encompass primarily neighborhoods in the Grasmere, Holland Hill, McKinley, Stratfield and North Stratfield neighborhoods. (To see whether your neighborhood is part of a new legislative district, refer to this map.)

“It has been a privilege and an honor to serve our community,” said Fawcett. “Each term has presented new ways to put my voice and energy to work for the people of Fairfield. I continue to learn and grow in this important role and have become proud of my record as an independent, results-oriented leader.”

Fawcett, who has logged many miles walking door-to-door in every one of her campaigns, said she will once again hit the pavement to hear voters’ thoughts and concerns. “My district includes many new constituents, and I’m looking forward to meeting them,” she said.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau welcomed Fawcett’s announcement of her re-election campaign. “Kim has done an astounding job representing Fairfield’s interests in Hartford while maintaining close ties to the people in her district,” said Tetreau. “Campaigning door-to-door has become a signature component of Kim’s personal outreach to voters, so if you’re in her district, keep an eye out for her at your door this summer!”
