DON'T BE A DIET VICTIM

Oftentimes the success of anything is how we approach it.

The same can be said for weight loss.

Are you approaching losing weight as a victim? Or a winner?

Often clients will come in to my office with the idea that they will never be able to lose weight; since they have failed so many times before. Their battle with food has become so great, they feel powerless and defeated.

While it is hard to change these thoughts overnight, there are three simple phrases that can put you back in the driver’s seat almost immediately.

Your success lies in just a few small words; I can’t and I don’t.

Find out what's happening in Fairfieldwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

When you are walking around thinking of all the foods you can’t eat, and all the things you can’t do, you become a victim.

How many times has someone asked you to try a certain food or dessert and you say, “I can’t. I’m on a diet.” Can you hear how that statement gives your power away, and makes you feel deprived and angry?

What if the next time someone asks you to try a certain food you know is not going to serve your goal, you said, “No thanks, I don’t eat that.” Or, “No thanks, I don’t care for any.” Can you feel the shift in energy? Can you see how this simple twist of phrase can put you back in control?

Anytime you say “I can’t”, it closes the road to possibility. It solidifies that story you tell about yourself, and weakens your resolve.

You can do this. You don’t have to be the type of person who needs sugar every day. You don’t have to allow a good loaf of bread to rule you every single time.

Take your power back by shifting your thoughts and energy just a tiny bit.

The next time you are faced with a food challenge, try one of these three phrases:

“I don’t care for any”

“I don’t eat that”

“I don’t want any right now”

And when you do, notice how good it feels to take your power back.

The more you practice, the stronger you will become. Start today!
