"The great thing about our company is that it takes a family-centered approach," Varian said of the services Creative Interventions provides.

"With the family coaching model, we teach parents what to do because we know we're in the home a limited amount of time. If they can't implement those strategies without us there, it won't be as effective...so we focus our intervention on being family-centered."

Varian told Patch in a recent interview that, though she always wanted to be an educator, a college course on behavioral analysis fascinated her to the point of "switching gears." She also has a personal connection -- a family member diagnosed with autism.
