NAMI Walks!

Everyone Knows Someone! Fairfield County residents walked the Capitol for Mental Health Awareness Month.

With the Capitol as a backdrop,  hundreds of people donned their walking shoes for three laps around Bushnell Park in Hartford on Saturday. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) held its annual walkathon at various locations across the country; Connecticut's Walk was one of 70 that took place to raise awareness and funding for the grassroots organization.

The mantra of the day was Everyone Knows Someone. NAMI says that one in four of us will experience a mental illness this year. With stats like that, everyone knows many more than just one! So why is there a stigma associated with mental illness? Let's talk about it.

The non-profit organization offers support, education, and advocacy to people living with mental illnesses, their family members, friends, professionals and the public. Tax deductible donations can be made to support NAMI Connecticut and help fund its programming. Click here to learn more.
