The Pilot House's Cuatro de Mayo Fiesta is Friday!

Join the party to help raise funds to meet the needs of kids with special needs! Live music, tapas and margaritas at the beach!!

The Pilot House Special Needs Resource Foundation is having a party, and you are invited! The organization's annual fundraising event is this Friday night, Cuatro de Mayo, from 7:30-11:00 at the new Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield.

Doreen Caruso, President of The Pilot House, recently renewed the organization's lease with the town of Fairfield allowing services to continue at its open and child-friendly location adjoining the Sullivan-McKinney Senior Housing. "We are thrilled that the town recognizes the need to provide services for children with special needs and their families and has supported us with this generous lease. We are excited to continue to serve the many families who benefit from our programming."

The line-up of classes is expanding in the fall 2012 to meet the growing needs of the community. New classes planned include groups for infants and toddlers and their caregivers, and sibling workshops. Other regular classes include social skills groups, recreational activities, an after-school program, many of which are also growing.

This year's Cuarto de Mayo fiesta is breaking new ground, as it is the first time that the most critical fund-raising event is happening off-site at the new Penfield Pavilion. The location will be beautiful, overlooking the beach - a perfect setting to bring together new supporters and people who want to learn more about the organization and support its mission, and long-time champions who are frequent attendees.

Dr. David Title, Superintendent of Fairfield Public Schools, will be at the party, accompanied by his wife Laurie. Dr. Title remarked, "We are grateful to The Pilot House as it fills an important need  of our families who have a child with special needs, and this improves the well-being of our entire community."

Carol Adduci has been a supporter since the onset. She values The Pilot House as a worthwhile cause because they help kids with all kinds of challenges. Carol's son Matt is 16 years old and has autism. She said that his involvement helps him build life-skills like cooking, and also refine his ability to work in a group. Matt's loves Teen Night as he likes to go out and socialize, and his favorite part is Hip Hop!

The fiesta will include live music featuring the Jay Stollman Band, delicious tapas catered by Flavor Caterers, and margaritas, wine and beer. Keep the momentum going! The generosity of donors helps defray the costs to make services available to everyone.  The evening's fun is after-all a fund-raiser, so there will be an action-packed Live Auction too. Tickets are available at The Pilot House, 240 Colony St. in Fairfield, or on-line at www.thepilothouse.org. $50 per person.  Questions may be directed to the Pilot House at (203) 292-8452.
