Sounds of the Season

Ahhhhh the sounds of the season…sniffing, coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing. Music to the ears right? With the cold weather knocking on your front door, holiday parties every weekend, and late hours at work to meet last minute deadlines, our immune system takes quite the hit. As a chiropractor, there is a big challenge when a patient calls to cancel their appointment because they are not feeling well. If you’re not feeling well, that is all the more reason why you should not only still come in, but even make the time for an extra adjustment that week!

After being adjusted it is not uncommon for a patient to notice a decrease in head pressure, nasal drainage, reduction in their sore throat, decrease in fatigue, and reduced body aches. Not to mention a 200% boost in immunity. That is why people who get adjusted regularly tend to notice they do not get sick as often and their symptoms are not as severe in comparison to those who don’t.

The immune system is responsible for fighting off all sorts of nasty things, including bacteria, viruses, and a whole host of other spine-chilling bugs.  Every day we come in contact with millions of these things and yet we manage to get by without much of an issue.  It is only when our immune system is compromised that we start to experience the symptoms commonly associated with a cold or flu.

Chiropractic care can help raise your natural resistance to disease by removing a serious interference known as; Vertebral subluxations. Vertebral subluxations are misaligned vertebrae in your spine that interfere with your nerves and the flow of information and energy between your brain and the rest of your body. You may have a subluxation and never know it, which is why having your spine checked is crucial.  Remember a fever is one of your body's defense mechanisms, helping you destroy infection. Lowering a fever reduces this defense against disease. Keeping your body free from vertebral subluxation keeps your natural immunity high and could make the difference between a quick recovery and lingering illness.

If making it through the winter season without missing days at work or school sounds tempting, start taking charge of your health by incorporating chiropractic care into your lifestyle.
