Think Siri is better than a human? Think again!

Meet Marlene Kimberly, a local personal assistant who loves getting people's acts together.

Richard Branson, of Virgin Group, recently wrote about his brilliant personal assistant, Helen and how she is the keeper of his brain and that a smart phone couldn't compare. I couldn't agree more! A personal assistant is an asset, someone who can make your small business or your home run more efficiently and free up time for you to make more money and enjoy the fruits of your labor. More efficiency, more money & more time equals a true triple play! A personal assistant is an idea people only dream about but an assistant is invaluable and not as impossible as one may think. For the past few years, I have been quietly getting people's acts together in Fairfield County and beyond. Out of my need for order, a career grew and I started my own business, Get Your Ducks in a Row, LLC. To get one’s ducks in a row means to complete one’s preparations, become efficient and well organized or to get one’s act together. My clients typically find me through word of mouth. Being someone’s personal assistant is a very "personal" job so we must be a good match. I liken it to a marriage as we spend a lot of time together and I am privy to many details of that person’s life. I have clients that contact me to assist with special events, clients who contact me on an as need basis and clients that contract for a certain amount of hours per month. My clients run the gamut and I always do a trial run with them all to make sure we like and trust each other. I have had clients that curse like a sailor, cry to me, have ADHD, and I have worked with clients that are brilliant but have zero executive function skills. Executive function skills are planning, organizing, strategizing, paying attention to and remembering details, and managing time and space. Consider yourself lucky if you have them all. Most of us have a few holes and some struggle with everyday chores such as remembering to shower or take medicines.Through technology & visuals, I am able to help them remember what is necessary for them to do on a daily basis. So what exactly does an assistant do, you might be asking? I handle day to day clerical tasks for both household and business. I set business and personal appointments, create and update spreadsheets, contact clients, put out fires, book business trips and vacations, run errands and do shopping, oversee animal care, research schools and summer camps, pay bills, clean out email in-boxes, organize moves, set up and manage social networking, slay to-do lists, set up schedules and calendars, plan parties and events and in my spare time, I assist with local fundraisers by campaigning for them or donating my services. What I won’t do is anything illegal or immoral. Excluded as well is heavy lifting, house cleaning, cooking or child care. Although, I have been known to share a pot of my soup of the week for a special client! If you need help with your act, suffer no more.
