Beat the Heat and Think Pink -- Pink Wine!

On steamy days our staff at Mo's Wine & Spirits likes to cool down with cold drinks. To us, a Rosé is a perfect summer wine for humid, scorching days. From the looks of the weather forecast for next week, our temperatures will be rising again. Perfect weather for Rosés.

You can enjoy Rosés from many regions of the world. US, France, Italy, Spain, and countless others all have their special pink wines. Many of the wines, despite the color, are bone dry and not sweet whatsoever. Served chilled, it is a perfect summertime treat.

While Rosés are great served on their own, they also make a dynamite summertime Sangria. Served chilled with some delicious tapas, Sangria is a big hit for summer barbecues and picnics. In the heat of the summer, we prefer white or Rosé wine-based Sangrias over the heavier red wine ones.

Ingredients

1 bottle of Artadi Artazuri Rosado
1/2 cup of Brandy
1/4 cup of Grand Marnier
3 T sugar
1 apricot, pitted and sliced thinly
1 plum, pitted and sliced thinly
1 nectarine or peach, pitted and sliced thinly
1/2 pint of raspberries
1/2 pint of strawberries, sliced in half
1/2 lime or lemon, thinly sliced

In a large pitcher, combine the wine, brandy, Grand Marnier and sugar. Stir or shake the pitcher to mix well.

Cut up the fruit. To keep the Sangria cool without watering it down, we'd like to suggest freezing the raspberries and strawberries and use them instead of ice cubes.
