Fairfield 8th Graders head to Ohio to play football

Two Fairfield eighth-grade Wildcats football players were selected for the Connecticut South All-Star football team to participate in the Football University National Championship playoffs.

Justin Collier and Grant Carnemark were selected two years in a row to be a part of the CT All-Star team.

Collier and Carnemark played their first round of games in Greenwich, CT at the Brunswick School on December 1 and 2 which included teams from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.  CT South defeated the teams from New York City (35-6) and Long Island (27-0) which qualified them to advance to the next round of regional playoffs in Mansfield, OH.  Collier and Carnemark contributed defensively with tackling and coverage.  Collier scored a touchdown against New York City to make that a game a decisive win.

The CT South team faced Massachusetts in their first game in Ohio on Saturday, December 8.  This grudge match turned out the same way it did last year, with a Massachusetts win (0-27).  In the consolation round on Sunday, December 9, CT South played against a Chicago team and won that game (27-6).
