Joseph Gross, High School and College Basketball Star, dies at 77

Joe had a long career in Advertising and Marketing and a second career as a Real Estate Appraiser.

Joseph Gross, age 77 of Fairfield, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his home. Born in Hungary to the late David and Julia Gross, Joseph was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1960 from the University of Richmond.

Joe was a former basketball star during his high school and college years. He went on later in life to be an avid golfer.

Joe had a long career in Advertising and Marketing and a second career as a Real Estate Appraiser.

He is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth DePeppe and her husband, Douglas of Colorado Springs, CO and Deborah Gross of Fairfield, his three cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Luke and Nicholas DePeppe and his former wife, Suzanne Russell Gross. Joe was predeceased by his brother George and sister, Edith.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. Friends may greet his family on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 4-7 at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home. 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center. Donations may be made in his memory to the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club, 385 Center Street, Southport, CT 06890.
