Obituary: Jean Olah Yovan, 92, Beloved Wife

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church.

Yovan - Jean Olah Yovan, age 92, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late George Yovan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Carolton Convalescent Home. She has finished celebrating her life on Earth, and now starting her new life.  

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diane Desmond, and her husband, John, of Fairfield; three grandsons, John Desmond, and his wife, Judy, George Desmond, and his wife, Heather, and Sean Desmond, and his wife, Mandy, all of Fairfield; her cherished great grandchildren, John and Ryan Desmond, Hailey and George Desmond, and Sullie, Shay, and Hayes Desmond; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, John and Charles Olah.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Jean lived in Fairfield for fifty years before moving to Vero Beach, FL, and returned to Fairfield six years ago. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, Magnum Cum Laude. Jean worked for Remington Arms and Sikorsky Aircraft as an executive secretary. She studied ballet at the George Voladin Dance Studio and was a member of the Patterson Country Club. An accomplished golfer and bowler, Jean loved to compete with family and friends, and enjoyed participating in local tournaments. She was also a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.    

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. Her interment will be private and under the care of Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, of Fairfield Center.
