Obituary: Kristina V. Murray, 55, Loving Wife and Mother

Murray - Kristina V. Murray, age 55, beloved wife of Andrew Murray, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.  

In addition to Andrew, her devoted husband of 35 years, she will be remembered by her children, Andrew John "AJ" Murray, of Fairfield and Kristina Murray, of Denver, CO; two brothers, Anton Lukman and Martin Lukman, both of Fairfield; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Murray, and his wife, Tina, of OK, Thomas Murray, of NY; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Murrray, of OK, Margaret Murray, of Shelton; several nieces and nephews, the child she sponsored from Guatemala, Angel; and her family's canine companion, Nelly.  

Kristina was predeceased by her parents, John and Grace Antolin Lukman, and her brother-in-law, John Murray.  

Raised in Fairfield, Kristina graduated from Andrew Warde High School in 1975. She lived in Washington and Germany when Andrew was serving in the military, and moved back to Fairfield in 1981. A dedicated homemaker, loving wife and mother, she also ran a home cleaning service. When her parents and parents-in-law became older and needed assistance, Kristina was their caregiver. A devout catholic, she lived her faith every day, and performed countless selfless acts of kindness throughout her life.  

A talented gardener and cook, Kristina enjoyed traveling to the Virgin Islands, shopping, especially when involving coupons, playing bingo at St. Emery Church, and participating in activities at both Holy Family Church and Holy Cross Church. She was a member of the American Slovenian Society (KSKJ).  

The Murray family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided to Kristina from the Bridgeport Oncology Staff, especially Faye and Rene, and the Bridgeport Hospital Tower Seven staff.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Saturday 915 AM in the funeral home, and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Her interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
