Obituary: Pauline Bertanza, 84

Bertanza - Pauline Ann Bertanza, age 84, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Richard D. Bertanza, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Derby, August 4, 1928, daughter to the late Ferdinando and Elena Carloni Baldelli, Pauline attended St. Mary's elementary school and Derby High School. As a young woman, she worked beside her beloved mother and her loving sisters in the family catering business, she had worked for the Charlton Press Co. of Derby and later the Bassett Co. of Derby. Pauline and Richard were married on May 30, 1955 and resided in Fairfield and remained a resident until her passing.

Pauline had a gifted voice and sang for the Singing Sweethearts of Stratford. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and bingo. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and aunt, she was admired and loved by all.

She will be remembered by her loving children, Richard Bertanza and his wife Carol of Fairfield, Paula Gibson and her husband James of Fairfield, Eugene Bertanza and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull and Gina Zdru and her husband Chris of Fairfield. eleven grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Christina, Tiffany and Stephanie Bertanza, Todd Carruthers, Michelle and Christopher Gibson, Emily, Nicholas and Richard Zdru and a great-granddaughter Savanna. She leaves behind her sister, Nancy Baldelli Reilly and her husband Robert of Derby, her Godchild Robert Reilly of Texas, sisters in law Rosalyn Bertanza of Fairfield and Jennie Bertanza of Shelton as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her son, Michael Bertanza, and sisters, Baby Nancy, Viola Guliano, Mary Piccini, Irene Monaco and Nora DeLeonardo.

Her funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30am DIRECTLY at , 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield with entombment to follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center.
