Obituary: Rosalind Jacobs, 95, Active Volunteer

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m.

Jacobs - Rosalind Jacobs, age 95, devoted wife to the late Edwin Jacobs, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2013 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield, CT.  

She will be remembered by her two sons, Richard Jacobs, and his wife, Loretta, of Fairfield, Gary Jacobs, and his wife, Donna, of Washington; her cherished grandchildren, Evan and Peter Jacobs, Dan Jacobs and his wife, Astrid Ramirez-Jacobs; her extended family and dear friends.

Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Augusta Levy Kronish. Raised in Inwood, she resided in the Greenhaven section of Rye, NY and Somers, NY before moving to Fairfield to be closer to her family several years ago. A retired book-keeper and secretary, Rosalind worked for her husband's and son's (Gary) business, Premet Silks, of New York City.  

Rosalind enjoyed staying involved with both her family and community. She was a former member of Greenhaven Yacht Club, and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club. Along with their family's boat, these were places where many memorable summer days on the water were spent. She was an active volunteer for the Dorothy Karrot League, Children's Blood Foundation-Westchester Chapter of New York Hospital, Rye Neck High School PTA, Rye Neck High School Scholarship Fund, and the Somers Hadassah.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Sunday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Cantor Sheri Blum officiating. Interment will follow at 1:15 p.m. in King David Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
