Obituary: Stephen J. Turner, 90, Lifelong Fairfield Resident, WWII Veteran

Turner - Stephen J. Turner, Sr., age 90, a lifelong resident of Fairfield, beloved husband of Josephine Ovja Turner, passed away on April 27, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.

In addition to his devoted wife of 65 years, Josephine, he will be lovingly remembered by his children, Barbara Ciccia, and her husband, Ronald, of Fairfield, Christine Howard, and her husband, William, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, Cynthia Lakatos, and her husband, John, of Stratford, Stephen Turner, Jr., and his fiance', Jessica Haber, of Shelton; his grandchildren, Michael Klein, Justin Klein, Gabriel Howard, and Jason Howard; his great grandchildren, Sophia, Lily, Michael, Dylan, Logan, Caitlin, and Kevin.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Barbara Turner, one brother, John Turner, and one sister, Ann Turner.

Stephen proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, and was recognized with the Good Conduct and Victory Medals, as well as having been a POW in Germany.

An exceptional talented handyman, Stephen used his skills to own and operate an excavation business and gas station before working with the Town of Fairfield's DPW until his retirement.

A real outdoorsman, Stephen cherished the time he could spend with his family and friends while fishing or hunting. Always quick to lend a hand when needed, he will be truly missed by all who came to him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home, and 10:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Church with the Reverend Alfred Pecaric officiating. Interment with military honor will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
