Obituary: Vasil George 'Todd' Pittu, 83

Friends may call on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home until the funeral services begin at 12 p.m.

Pittu - Vasil George "Todd" Pittu, age 83, of Fairfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Taffy was a graduate of Bassick High School, Class of 1946, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He later would play minor league baseball for the Boston Red Sox. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Pittu had worked for the Sturm Ruger Co. of Fairfield and also enjoyed the times that he worked for the Roger Sherman Inn.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Pittu of Fairfield, a son David John Pittu of NYC, his twin sister Julia Cipu and her husband George and sister Veronica Atanase and her husband Vasel as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Todd will also be greatly missed by his many friends and neighbors at Sullivan/McKinley Elderly Housing. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Pittu, a brother Dennis Pittu, sisters Rita Batsu and Eleanor Zingo and nephews Victor Batsu and John Atanase.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Friends may call on Saturday at the Funeral Home from 11am until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made towards the needs of the family.
