Obituary: Zita Szabo, 74, of Fairfield

A dedicated and loving mother, she enjoyed cooking, watching sports and trips to Florida. She loved to visit her daughter's family in Florida to watch her granddaughter play soccer and grandson play baseball and travel ice hockey.

Zita Bogdany Szabo, 74, of Fairfield, passed away on May 10, 2014. She was born in Norwalk, CT and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy of Stamford. Zita worked at Boots Aircraft in Norwalk before marrying the love of her life, Zoltan Szabo. After his death in 1992, she attended Butler Business School to prepare herself for a return to the workforce. Zita held several office positions: Aqua Lawn, St. Pius X Church, BMW of Westport, but always enjoyed cooking for the priests and guests of St. Pius X Rectory.

A dedicated and loving mother, she enjoyed cooking, watching sports and trips to Florida. She loved to visit her daughter's family in Florida to watch her granddaughter play soccer and grandson play baseball and travel ice hockey. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughters in Connecticut play in travel fastpitch softball and basketball. She was an avid New York Yankees and Rangers fan along with the Bridgeport Soundtigers, Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Zoltan Szabo, grandmother, Anne Kertesz; parents, Marion and Stephen Bogdany, of Norwalk; and sister Marian "Mumsie" Kilbride of Wilton. She is survived by her son, Zoltan J. Szabo and daughter-in-law, Kimberly of Trumbull, daughter, Zita Ruf, and son-in-law, Marty, of Trinity, FL, three granddaughters; Kristine Szabo, Alexandra Szabo, Taylor Ruf and grandson, Timothy Ruf.
