Town tax dollars wasted.
There is a duplication of service at the privately owned Southport Firehouse. The firehouse is owned by the Southport volunteer fire department. But the Town of Fairfield fire department insists on keeping a town own fire truck with three paid firemen working in this privately owned building 24/7. When the Southport volunteers have perfectly good fire trucks in the building also. The town pays for all repairs and maintenance to this building and collects no tax dollars. 100,000.00 of thousands of dollars can be saved by the town by removing the town truck and letting the Volunteers man and maintain their privately owned building.
