Does Metro North care?

I pay $341 a month to get from Southport to NYC. Its not really a choice, as I work in the city. Every so often, I ask myself what I actually "get" for the privilege of paying $341. Late trains? Changing schedules (why is it that the schedules never change to make the trains earlier?) dirty conditions on the trains themselves...
This morning I was forced to ask myself this question again, as the disgusting environment we are so used to on these trains has now decided to disembark and make itself at home in Southport.

It makes no sense to me that millions would be spent to rebuild the Southport station after the fire, only to let it be adorned with beer bottles, rotting food, and other refuse.

I know that our local Southport RTM representatives have been trying to push this issue with the Parking Authority and the MTA. I thank them for their efforts, and I share their frustration.

I'm fed up with paying the transit and parking fees that we are held hostage to, and receiving VERY LITTLE in exchange for my hard earned money. Maybe its time to start carrying this garbage onto the train with me every morning and leaving it there for the MTA to clean up?

MetroNorth *removed* the trash receptacle from the eastern end of the platform, by the way. It used to be there, and now its gone. I'm fairly sure people would use it if it was there.

Any other ideas?
