Letter: 'Chris Murphy is the Only Choice for Connecticut'

Resident Kevin Lennon writes in his support of the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate.

In a few short weeks we will head to the polls to vote in various electoral contests including the Presidency. However, we all need to consider a pivotal contest right here in Connecticut for our next Senator. There is only one experienced and capable individual in this race, a dedicated and informed public servant, and a reasoned choice to represent our interests and that person is Chris Murphy.

Chris Murphy’s opponent has elected to run a blitzkrieg campaign of non-stop personal attacks against Chris Murphy funded from coffers generated by decades of work in an industry that glamorizes violence and frolics in a teenage boy’s cartoonish view of women.

Chris Murphy has been a vocal and strong supporter of the middle class, promising to support policies to maintain vital programs like Social Security and Medicare, lower taxes on the middle class, and has been a truly moderate voice in Congress as a member of the aptly named Center Aisle Caucus.  His opponent’s glaring lack of basic knowledge on various issues and her true views on issues like Social Security have been exposed during the debates and in candid moments caught on camera.

Putting to the side a glitzy television advertising campaign and a completely reinvented public image it is clear that Chris Murphy’s opponent is simply out of touch with ordinary citizens and would support policies and changes to laws that would needlessly fortify the wealthy at the expense of everyone else. Connecticut deserves a Senator in Congress that will proudly represent all citizens. Chris Murphy is the only choice for Connecticut and I invite you to join with me on November 6 and send Chris Murphy to the U.S. Senate.

Chris Murphy is just another run-of-the-mill Socialist. He's personally responsible for voting for $6+ trillion of new national debt in 6 yrs of voting in the House. Check his record. There's no more other-people's-money for his socialist pipe dreams. The country is on the verge of bankruptcy and Murphy is guaranteed to push us over. Check his record and for the good of CT don't vote for this man.

Chris is the only choice -- I agree with Kevin. The stakes are too high to wait for his opponent's on-the-job training to kick in. Her personal attacks are ugly and inappropriate, and they predict how she will handle herself as an elected official. On the other hand, if you are happy with the failure to compromise in Washington, refusal to work things out "across the aisle" as politicians should, and to not manage the people's business, maybe Linda is for you But not me.

i watched the debates last night between chris and linda . they were both awful. instead of answering the thoughtful questions from the tv and newspaper reporters, they both reverted to their negative attack lines. if they weren't lying, their answers were deceptive. i will vote for murphy only to retain the senate for the democrats.

Chris Murphy apparently tight with Bridgeport Mayor Finch who is caught on video 10 days ago openly promising Murphy the vote "even if it takes a few days late"

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
