Letter: DeSanctis Will 'Bring Fiscal Responsibility' to Hartford

Former Republican Town Committee Chair Jim Baldwin endorses Chris DeSanctis for the 133rd District.

Connecticut’s economy is a wreck thanks to the Democrats’ stranglehold on Hartford. According to Barron’s, Connecticut is the worst managed state in the nation. And no wonder considering it is rated the sixth worst state for doing business, among the three most heavily taxed and considered the worst state to retire. According to the Pew Center, Connecticut’s per-capita indebtedness is now the highest in the nation.

Kim Fawcett may be a good-intentioned, caring and likable person but these traits just don’t cut it. If the General Assembly had a majority of representative more like our strong, forthright and principled legislators -- John McKinney, Tony Hwang and Brenda Kupchick -- we just might be able to crawl out of this this fiscal wreckage alive.

The fact is that Kim Fawcett voted the Democrat party line 98 percent of the time and completely avoided (skipped) important votes on  The Immigrants & Postsecondary Education Act, the 2009-11 Biennium Budget Financing Act, the Hotel Tax Increase Act, and the Act to Repeal the Death Penalty. I’m sure Chris DeSanctis will work tirelessly alongside Fairfield’s other Republican state representatives to bring fiscal responsibility and accountability back to Hartford.

For this reason more than any other, I urge folks in the 133rd District to vote for Chris DeSanctis.
