I'm writing in support of for the (BOE).
I served with Paul Fattibene on Representative Town Meeting (RTM) Education Committee from 1999-2003. During those years, Paul and I worked on many education issues that were important to the people of Fairfield. Paul is a sensible, common sense public servant that I admire and respect. I came to know John Convertito during my years on the RTM and BOE. John is a longtime involved parent who has passionately advocated many education issues over the years. John cares about kids and families.
After serving six years on the BOE, I've gained insight I didn't have before that experience. Being a Board of Education member is a delicate balance of a love of children, education and the need for careful eyes and ears while shifting through complicated budgets, policies, and community concerns. Serving on the Board of education isn't for everyone.
Here in Fairfield, we have an interested and involved community, but still in a town with a population of nearly 60,000, only seven brave souls have stepped up to take on this challenge. All of the candidates running are qualified and I'm confident each of them will serve the town well if elected.
I hope that of the five seats open on Election Day, you'll join me in supporting Paul Fattibene and John Convertito to serve on the Board of Education.
