Is it THAT time of year?

It's that time again, where many of us have made our list of resolutions for the New Year. What's at the top of your list?

Time to DE-CLUTTER

As we go through our homes putting up holiday decorations and displays, shoving boxes and bags into already overstuffed closets, maybe it's a good time to do a bit of de-cluttering as we hunker down for winter.  Forget Spring cleaning and waiting until March - why not take the time to pare down now? So many of us are making New Year's resolutions anyway, getting your home in better shape is a perfect item to go at the top of your list!

For you homeowners who are getting ready to put your house on the market, this should definitely be the NUMBER ONE THING on your to-do list.  The problem is usually deciding what to keep and what to give or throw away.  Some of us are minimalists and like to have nice, open space in our rooms while others want to be surrounded by artwork and knick-knacks and pillows and books.  The trick is deciding what to do with the things we want to keep and how best to make them work in our homes.  If you're like me, you've saved some stuff simply because it was given to you by a loved one or you'll feel guilty getting rid of it, no matter that it has remained in the cupboard or closet for decades!

Do you have the soul of an artist or an architect?  Click on the link below to find out why this matters when de-cluttering your home.

Imagine your favorite home decorating magazine is sending a camera crew over to photograph the interior of your home. (Again, HOME SELLERS pay attention here!)  What would you change? What would you get rid of?  The article below gives some great tips on how to get started.

So, yes it is THAT time of year.  Time to purge and free ourselves of too much stuff.  What better time than right after the holidays, when most of us got a brand new round of it!
