14 Car Break-ins Reported at Fairfield Cinemas This Year

An Easton woman reported to Fairfield police Monday that her one of her car windows was smashed while parked in the Fairfield Cinemas garage on Black Rock Turnpike.

Her purse was on the front seat of the car, and it was stolen. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said that, to date, 14 vehicles have been broken into in that garage and parking lot since the start of the year.

The purse might as well have been left on the dashboard or on the hood of car, since it was left in plain view on the front seat, Lussier said.

Remember to take your belongings with you and to not leave them in view in your car.

The purse was valued at $250 and contained the woman's wallet and $60 cash. The window damage is estimated to cost $300 to repair.
