In Fairfield: Dogs Found, Deer Down, Coyote Spotted

A summary of animal-related police reports from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

Two dogs were left in a parked car Sept. 30 with the windows up in the parking lot at 40 Black Rock Turnpike, police reported. The dogs were fine, but police told the owner to make sure the windows were rolled down next time.

Police found a small black dog early in the afternoon on Oct. 1 at the intersection of Grasmere Ave and the Post Road, according to police. The dog was brought to the Fairfield Animal Shelter.

Two more dogs were picked up shortly after on Pequot Ave and brought to the shelter.

A coyote was spotted in a backyard of a home on Robin Lane on Sept. 30, police reported.

A “sick-looking” raccoon was spotted near on Sept. 30. A custodian reported the raccoon to the police, which had been hanging around for a few days, walked from the school parking lot to a house across the street.

The raccoon then became wobbly and fell over, but it was gone by the time police arrived.

An injured deer was picked up Oct. 1 from the intersection of Hillside and Bronson Road and brought to the county’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEP), police said.

Another deer was shot by an arrow and was found dead in the backyard of 1204 Mine Hill Road on Oct. 2, right near the entrance to the pool.
