Anonymous Tip Leads Police to Suspected Drug Dealer

Fairfield Police arrest a Bridgeport man who was reportedly selling marijuana in town.

A two-month investigation into the sale of marijuana in Fairfield came to a conclusion Tuesday with the arrest of a 27-year-old Bridgeport man.

Fairfield Police said the investigation was launched after detectives received an anonymous tip that a resident of 67 Bennett St. in Bridgeport was selling marijuana in town. Detectives then tracked and documented the sale of marijuana by the resident, who police identified as Gerald C. Host.

Once enough evidence had been gathered, police applied for and obtained a search warrant for Host's residence and vehicle. The execution of the search warrant turned up about 4 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Host was taken into custody at 7 p.m. on March 4 and charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He posted at $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 14.
