Original story:

A front desk clerk at the on Kings Highway Cutoff reported on Saturday that she was robbed at knifepoint, police said.

According to the report, the clerk was counting receipts at the front desk at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a black male came through the front door and asked if his cousin was staying at the hotel. The clerk looked up the cousin, but no one of the name the man gave her was checked in at the Best Western, police said.

The clerk told police she continued counting receipts while the man made a call on his cell phone.

Then the man took out a knife, told her step back, and jumped over the front desk counter, according to the report. He took cash from the counter and form a drop envelope and ran out of the hotel, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. The clerk did not know whether he fled by foot or by car.

Police are looking for the suspect, whom the clerk described as a thin black male approximately 25 to 30 years old, standing at 5-foot-5/5-foot-6 and wearing a gray wool hat, gray sweatshirt, and gray pants, Lussier said.

The Fairfield detective bureau is investigating the report.
