Bridgeport Man Arrested For Weapon in Motor Vehicle

Fairfield police reports for Sept. 27

Shakir Sultan, 32, of Bridgeport was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana on Sept. 28, following a motor vehicle stop. Police said an officer on patrol saw Sulton’s vehicle run a red light at the intersection of Fairfield Woods Road and Stillson Road at about 12:30 a.m. After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed a green leafy substance on the floor of the vehicle that later tested positive for marijuana. Police also found a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with nine rounds in the magazine in the car’s glove compartment. Police said Sulton did not have a permit to carry a firearm. Sulton was also charged with failure to obey a traffic signal and driving with a suspended license. He was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Amy Desel, 46, of Toilsome Hill Road was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive right, and failure to carry insurance on Sept. 27. Police said someone called at about 6:30 p.m. to report that a driver had struck a parked car near 1630 Post Road. When officers arrived they reportedly found Desel sitting in the passenger seat of her vehicle and saw that there was damage to the bumper of an unoccupied vehicle parked nearby on the Post Road. Desel reportedly told officers that someone else had been driving her car, but police said it was quickly determined that she was the one driving. The person who reported the incident told police Desel was maneuvering when she struck the parked car. She also backed her car up on a curb and blocked a driveway, the witness related. Desel was administered a field sobriety test, which she reportedly failed. She posted a $60 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 4.

Luke Bradbury, 32, of Milford was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, one count of failure to keep prescription medicines in their container, and driving under suspension on Sept. 28 following a motor vehicle stop. Police said an officer on patrol saw Bradbury’s car traveling east on the Post Road near Grasmere Road with no front license plate. After stopping the vehicle, the officer reportedly noticed that Bradbury was nervous. When he was asked if there were any drugs or weapons in the car, Bradbury reportedly said “there’s a little bit of coke.” Police said a search of the vehicle revealed a plastic baggie containing white powder that later tested positive for cocaine. In addition police found a plastic baggie containing six oxycontin tablets. Police said a motor vehicle check revealed that Bradbury had a suspended license. Police said his vehicle was towed from the scene. Bradbury was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 12.
