Bridgeport Man Faces Charges For Deadly New Year's Day Crash in Fairfield

Jamain Allen, 32, of 271 Bronx Ave., was allegedly drunk and stoned on marijuana when the car he was driving veered off Interstate 95, seriously injuring his fiancee and killing her father and sister.

Police have reportedly charged a Bridgeport man with two counts of second degree manslaughter in connection with a that occurred on I-95 in Westport near Exit 19, near the Fairfield town line.

According to a report in the CT Post, citing statements made by police, Jamain Allen, 32, of 271 Bronx Ave., was drunk and stoned on marijuana when the car he was driving veered off the highway, struck a guard rail, flipped and went through about 100 feet of brush and trees before coming to rest on its roof. The accident injured his fiancee and killed her father and sister.

Allen, who was arraigned Monday at state Superior Court in Norwalk, faces two counts of second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, failure to drive in the proper lane, driving to endanger, driving with a suspended license and driving while under the influence, according to the report. He is reportedly being held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 23.
