Burglary, Car Chase Suspect Charged by Fairfield PD

Christopher Bond, 51, faces multiple charges after Monday's pursuit, which ended in a rollover that injured a pregnant woman.

The burglary suspect who allegedly initiated a pursuit by Fairfield police Monday was formally charged by police Wednesday.

Christopher Bond, 51, of Bridgeport, reportedly led police on pursuit from Black Rock Turnpike to Dewey Street in Bridgeport, where he collided with an SUV operated by a pregnant woman. Both Bond and the woman were treated at St. Vincent's Medical Center following the accident for reportedly minor injuries, police said.

Bond was charged Wednesday with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, third-degree assault of a pregnant woman, interfering with police, reckless endangerment, and engaging in pursuit.

, Bond entered an office building at 1817 Black Rock Turnpike Monday and allegedly attempted to steal computers and electronics before fleeing in a white Plymouth Acclaim.

Bond was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and was brought to court Thursday morning, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
