Cash Stolen From Fairfield Podiatrist’s Office

Fairfield Police reports for Sept. 26

Police say they are investigating a larceny at a local podiatrist’s office. Police said on Sept. 26 an employee of Associated Podiatrists of Fairfield, 1881 Post Road, called to report that an unspecified amount of cash had been taken from the office. Police said the cash was first noticed missing on Sept. 11. The employee said other miscellaneous items had disappeared from the office in recent weeks as well. Police said the owner is seeking restitution and/or an arrest.

Jonathan Barahona, 20, of Melville Drive was arrested and charged with sixth degree larceny on Sept. 26, after he allegedly stole a ring from the jewelry department at the Kohl’s store on Tunxis Hill. Police said they were called to the store by a manager who said Barahona entered the jewelry department, selected a sterling silver ring from a cardboard display, put it in his pocket and then proceeded to walk past the front registers. Police said the ring had a value of $45. Barahona was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 3.

William Smart, 22, of Moritz Place was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana on Sept. 26, following a motor vehicle stop. Police said an officer on patrol stopped Smart’s car on King’s Highway at about 1:17 a.m. after seeing it traveling unreasonably fast with a loud muffler. Police said when the officer patted down Smart for safety he found two open cigarette packs, one of which contained a plastic baggie with a small amount of marijuana inside.

Jason Cardozo, 27, of Thorpe Street, was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana on Sept. 26, following a motor vehicle stop. Police said an officer on patrol saw Cardozo’s vehicle traveling west on King’s Highway East with no front license plate. Police said as the officer followed the vehicle onto Black Rock Turnpike it sped up. After stopping the vehicle on Overlook Avenue, the officer searched the vehicle and found a glass pipe filled with marijuana in the center console as well as a plastic baggie with a small amount of marijuana in it.
