'Cheater' Graffiti Vandals Strike Fairfield American Little League Field

As the Fairfield American Little League team prepared to play Farmington with a state tournament berth on the line Wednesday night, its home stadium was vandalized overnight Tuesday with the word "Cheaters" and more scrawled on the field's scoreboard, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports "CHEATERS" was spray-painted in bold white paint on the dugout and press box, as well as well as "Cheaters ... make you a loser!!!" in the team's complex behind Mill Hill School in the Southport section of town.

The vandalism damage, which was estimated by police to cost $10,000, was reported by a custodian at the school at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Connecticut Post.

Fairfield American head coach Mike Steed told the Post the vandalism was "ugly, unfortunate and shameful."
