Construction Workers Warned for Visible Urination

Investigations and incident reports are supplied by the Fairfield Police Department.

Following reports that , police on Thursday reported several more car burglaries and break-ins—mostly from unlocked vehicles and some in the same area of town.

Those reports include:

  • Thursday, 5:25 p.m., 87 Lisbon Drive—Report of unlocked Chevy Suburban entered overnight, with a Toshiba laptop ($500) and Nook tablet ($120) stolen from within;
  • 5:50 p.m., 561 Davis Road—Unlocked car in driveway rummaged through, nothing taken;
  • 6:01 p.m., 90 Lisbon Drive—Vehicle rummaged through but nothing taken;
  • 6:46 p.m., 40 Campfield Drive—$8 stolen from console of vehicle, unlocked in driveway;
  • Friday, 8:50 a.m., Lewis Drive—$30 sunglasses stolen from unlocked vehicle, interior of vehicle damaged, two interior lights removed from ceiling and glove box door broken off its hinges.

A Trefoil Court resident reportedly complained to police that construction workers at an adjacent property have been urinating in plain view of the complex where the complainant lives. The subjects were warned, Lussier said.

A Hulls Highway residence reportedly was burglarized some time between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when a woman returned home to find the place ransacked, police said.

According to Sgt. Sue Lussier, spokesperson for the Fairfield Police Department, a front glass sliding door that connects the home’s garage and kitchen had been forced open, its frame broken, with a dead bolt still engaged.

“Most of the house was completely ransacked,” Lussier said.

A French door from the master bedroom to backyard also was open, she said. The estimated value of stolen items is not yet known, she said.

About $3,150 in jewelry was reported stolen, possible from the Fairfield Motor Inn, where the complainant was staying on Oct. 22, the last time she says she knew she had a silver necklace and diamond earring in her possession. The complainant reportedly said she’d staying at the inn and left her jewelry in a bag there to go to a diner, then thought better of it and returned and the next time she looked in the bag—three days later—one earring and the necklace were gone.

At 3:08 p.m. Thursday, a recently fired Villa Avenue Stop & Shop worker reportedly called police to preempt a call that his former manager threatened to make to police. According to police, the worker was accused of stealing company time and he refused to leave after being terminated, prompting the threat from his manager.

“He called police because his manager told him that he was going to call police,” Lussier said. “He wanted to explain that he had done nothing wrong.”

Police received reports at 7:07 a.m. Thursday from the first-floor tenant of a Longview Avenue home that she awoke around 3 a.m. to find a tenant from the second floor outside the residence with what appeared to be a BB gun. She “found a large, dead raccoon on the left rear wooden steps,” police said.

Residents of Morehouse Lane reportedly heard gunshots on their cul-de-sac Thursday evening and reported them to police. Police responded to a home in the area which has been the subject of several similar BB gun reports, Lussier said. The residents of that home denied shooting, she said.

At 4:35 p.m. Thursday, a White Oak Road resident reportedly was bitten on the side of the face by a neighbor’s dog.

A resident of Melville Road at 10:31 a.m. Thursday reported a loud argument in the road between a neighbor and an Asian male screaming that he was owed money and waving a piece of paper. Police said the man claimed he was owed $52 and told him not to return to the house.
