Cops: Fairfield Woman Charged With DUI After Hit & Run

The woman was arrested on a warrant following a late October incident.

A Fairfield woman was arrested Monday in connection to a reported hit and run that occurred near 1424 Post Road in late October, police said. Diana Sedito, 60, was charged with driving under the influence, disobeying traffic signals, and avoiding responsibility after she was arrested on a warrant, department spokesperson Lt. James Perez said.

Police caught up with Sedito, an Edge Hill Road resident, the night of the accident and reported she was having trouble walking straight and her eyes were red and glassy, Perez said. She failed sobriety tests and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, according to the report.

Sedito was released on a $2,500 bond and issued a Dec. 13 court date.

A South Benson Road resident reported on Monday that cash and several pieces of expensive jewelry missing from his home, police said.

The resident’s house is for sale and has been shown multiple times to prospective buyers; he told police he believes the items were stolen sometime during October or November, Perez said.

Missing was an 18-in. Brogan pearl necklace ($3,500), a pear bracelet, costume jewelry, and $300 in cash, according to the report.

This is under investigation.

A Fairfield woman was arrested on motor vehicle charges Monday after she reportedly took her foot off the brake and rolled into the rear of the car in front of hers, police said.

Diane Connolly, 51, of Brookview Avenue, whose driver license had been suspended since 2005, was charged with driving while suspended and driving too close, Perez said. The accident occurred on the off-ramp of North Benson Road and I-95, exit 22 southbound. The vehicle Connolly’s collided with was stopped at a red light, according to the report.

She was released on a misdemeanor summons to appear in court on Dec. 19.

A custodian at reported that someone threw an object through one of the school’s windows, causing it to shatter on Saturday, Dec. 3, police said.

The custodian told police he didn’t see anyone. The broken window will cost $50 to repair, according to the report.
