A Bridgeport man was charged with sixth-degree larceny Sunday after he allegedly failed to pay his cab fare, police said.

Ovidio Mendoza Robles, 35, called Metro Taxi for a cab to transport him from his Charles Street residence to The Bear & Grill Restaurant on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. According to the report, he needed to pick up a paycheck from the restaurant, where he was formerly employed.

After arriving at the Bear & Grill, Ovidio reportedly picked up the check and left through the back door, leaving his $45 cab fare unpaid, police said.

Officers later found Ovidio and charged him with sixth-degree larceny. He was release on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 18.
