Cops: Man Arrested After Attempt to Abandon Dog

A Bridgeport man was charged with cruelty to animals after he allegedly tried to leave a dog at Lake Mohegan.

A Bridgeport man was stopped by police Friday while allegedly attempting to abandon a dog at .

According to the police report, Tyler Herman, 29, and an unidentified male tried to leave an aggressive black dog at Lake Mohegan.  After witnesses called police to the scene, Herman reportedly told responding officers that he had recently taken the dog in but it was too aggressive and he couldn’t keep it.

According to the report, Herman said the Bridgeport animal control would not take in the dog and he thought would pick the dog up if it was left at a town park. The dog’s breed was not included in the report.

Herman was charged with cruelty to animals and released on a promise to appear in court on June 13. The dog was picked up by Fairfield’s dog warden.
