Cops: Man Allegedly Sets TV on Fire

A Monroe man was arrested after allegedly throwing a tantrum when his TV set blew out. Police said he took the TV outside, doused it with gasoline and set it on fire, then tried to tackle a police officer when police and firefighters arrived to a fire call at his house. While being arrested, police said the man, who had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him, was screaming and kicking the window of the police cruiser, threatening to kick it out.

A Monroe woman told police that someone fraudulently used her entire $1,900 Lowe's gift card.

A dispute over access to a parking spot led Greenwich Police to the discovery of several guns inside the home of the man they say threatened his neighbor after pulling a handgun from his holster, according to police.

Bridgeport woman is charged with one count of third-degree larceny, seven counts of fourth-degree larceny, three counts of fifth-degree larceny and five counts of sixth-degree larceny.

Police said her cash drawers were short on numerous occasions while she worked at Target in the Westfield Trumbull Mall. , police said.

An 86-year-old Westport resident, who had planned on speaking in favor of a citizens' gun-control petition at a local RTM meeting, was arrested at Westport Town Hall for possessing a BB gun and a box of .45 caliber ammunition. The woman said when the topic of gun control arose she was going to use the BB gun to prove a point to the audience regarding how easily firearms can be purchased.

A Darien man with a scrap metal pile in his yard to which friends and neighbors would occasionally add called police—who then called the Stamford bomb squad—when two grenades were discovered among the discarded metal. The grenades were determined to be duds.

A delivery driver dropping off packages to a Norwalk CVS store had his GPS unit stolen out of his truck while he was delivering pallets.

A Shelton man was arrested in Fairfield after he allegedly wrecked a Cumberland Farms bathroom in town, police said. The 19-year-old was reportedly intoxicated when he jumped out of his friend's moving vehicle on I-95 and journeyed to the gas station, where police said he wreaked $800 worth of damage.

A man, who police say has an extensive arrest record, was seen acting suspicious behind an elementary school in Southbury earlier this week. When an officer pursued the man he immediately fled, but was quickly stopped and charged with simple trespass.

Middlebury police were called to a Regan Road home due to an alarm activation. Upon arrival, they found a man in a red Mazda pick-up truck, stuck in the driveway and trying to get his car unstuck. An officer ordered the man to get out of the truck but this request was reportedly ignored. Instead, the man finally freed his truck, nearly hitting the officer in the process. He then led police on a car chase, at one point driving the wrong way on the highway. He faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment and disobeying the direction of an officer.
