Six guns -- some loaded -- were seized Thursday from the scene of a domestic dispute in Fairfield, where one man was arrested.

James Hinkle, 37, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, risk of injury to a minor, interfering with an emergency call, and interfering with an officer following Thursday's incident.

Hinkle's wife reportedly called police after an argument with her husband turned physical. She told police she came home to find Hinkle on the home and suspected he had been drinking, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

An argument in front of their two-year-old child followed, and Hinkle allegedly slammed a door on his wife's arm. When she tried to call police, he reportedly unplugged the phone and threw it in the backyard.

The wife and child managed to leave the house and contact police from another home. Hinkle allegedly slammed the door on an officer's arm when police arrived, according to the report.

Officers seized four rifles, a shotgun, a handgun, and assorted ammunition -- all unsecured -- from a bedroom, Lussier said.

Hinkle was arrested, charged, and held in lieu of a $250,000, which was lowered to $75,000. Hinkle was released and immediately transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center for an emergency evaluation.

He was scheduled to have appeared in court on Friday.
